Please join us on June 9, 2024 for our 19th group bike ride along the Amherst section of the Peanut Line. Now in our seventh year of advocacy, our group of Amherst residents and neighbors from adjacent towns have been raising awareness of the importance of completing the conversion of the former Canandaigua-Niagara Falls Railway into a multi-use trail. Safe and accessible to people of all abilities, the converted Peanut Line is currently enjoyed by bicyclists, joggers, walkers and folks with mobility devices from Clarence to Newstead. Finishing the remaining 5 miles in Amherst will extend access for commuting to school and work, increase recreational opportunities, connect our region with improved pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure, and benefit restaurants and other businesses along the way.
This Sunday we’ll be riding roughly 4.5 miles out and back along the predominantly graded, grassy trail along the historic Peanut Line. We can ride almost the entire route as it exists today. There is one section that requires a detour onto adjacent roadways. When we cross Campbell Boulevard we’ll have a mass-up at the best hospitality tent on the trail. Depending on conditions, we may take a group the rest of the way to the Ellicott Creek Trailway. We would then have an optional stop on the way back before we return head back to Transit Road.
The Rock Kitchen and Bar will once again serve as a host venue for this event. We’ll gather there at 1:00, ride out at 1:30, and end at that location between 3:30 and 4:00. See our Facebook event for additional details.
