GoBike Buffalo has launched a Feasibility Study for the Peanut Line trail, named as a priority corridor in “Bike Buffalo Niagara, the Regional Bike Master Plan (2020).” The Study will “identify technical requirements of building a trail, address community concerns, especially related to environmental and privacy considerations, summarize community input around trail amenities and design, and outline cost estimates for final design and construction.”
Expected to be completed in fall 2024, the study can be used to identify future grant funding to support the community’s vision for the trail.
Funded through the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC) and a grant from the New York State Department of State through NYS Assemblymember Karen McMahon, the plan will produce several outcomes:
- Overview of Existing Conditions
- Summary of Community vision
- Trail Recommendations
- Concept Level Cost Estimates
We invite you to fill out Community Vision Questionnaire to let GoBike know your vision for the trail and to help inform the outcome. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete, and we ask you to share it with your friends.
In an effort to examine all possible outcomes, GoBike will be identifying alternative routes off of the rail-bed itself and onto neighborhood streets. The organizers of this page have always favored Alternative A, which completely places the multi-use trail along the rail-bed corridor itself. Placing any part of the trail onto streets will significantly diminish safety, accessibility and convenience.
Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to make your voices heard, and for helping to complete this critical piece of bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
