Supporters: Please attend the Town Board Meeting, March 9

We Need Your Help to Move this Project Forward

The front exterior of the Amherst Municipal Building.

This might be our best (and last) chance to see the Amherst section of the Peanut Line become an accessible and safe multi-use trail. Whether you live in Amherst or elsewhere, if you are in favor of improved infrastructure for bicyclists, runners, walkers and rollers, connecting Amherst with Clarence to the east and the Tonawandas to the west, please attend this meeting and show the board there are thousands more supporters than opponents.

The Amherst Town Board has a resolution on Monday’s agenda related to the Peanut Line. The Town has identified a Transportation Alternatives Program grant, available through the Federal Highway Administration and administered by the New York State Department of Transportation. The grant would help fund the development of the Peanut Line into a multi-use trailway, but it requires a vote by the Amherst Town Board to apply for funding. This could be our best (and last) chance to finally see the trail paved and open to all but it could also be killed if there is more opposition at the meeting than support. Without funding we will not have a paved trailway — but that is where all of you come in. Please attend the meeting regardless if you live in Amherst or elsewhere. Be prepared to speak briefly during Public Expression about the importance of the Peanut Line Multi-Use Trailway and encourage the Town Board to authorize the grant application. It is really important that we have as many supporters as possible at this meeting.
